Plushie Dreadfuls - Dissociative Identity Disorder - Plush Stuffed Animal

 Dissociative Identity Disorder is described as a severe form of disassociation that can be associated with multiple personalities and identities. Previously Multiple Personality Disorder was a catch-all term but it has since been split into different conditions (DID OSDD-1A and OSDD-1B) with some systems still left outside the definition of what would constitute MPD. 

Many with DID have developed/become a system (two or more distinct personalities) where one personality can take control of the body. They can have distinct or shared memories. DID is not simply losing time it is memory recall distinct to personalities within the system. Some identities may have their own preferences and even age/race/time period. Some with DID also completely lose physical control by fainting during switching which can be worrisome and dangerous.

That's why our design team only creates plushies related to mental health issues with which they have direct experience. In cases where our team does not have direct experience we assemble an external team of experts to help guide our creative process. We gather and respond to feedback from our audience - many of whom have direct experience with the mental health issues we're exploring. And while we strive to represent as many aspects of a particular mental health issue as possible while avoiding stereotypical symptoms we hope you understand that plush toys as an artistic medium do limit the full expression of a particular issue to those things that can be crafted in fabric and stitching.
